Ten Reasons to Go Back to College You Might Not Have Considered
Lots of people choose to go back to college after years in their chosen careers. Some of these people are looking to switch careers, others want to simply advance in their chosen profession. For some, going back to college is a difficult experience, it’s costly, takes a long amount of time, and can sometimes feel like more of a step backwards then a step forwards.
There are a lot of lists out there that talk about the benefits: better pay, more confidence, expanding your mind, rebuilding your life from a stronger foundation, etc. They almost always focus on the amazing things you can do after you graduate. This is not a list like that, this is the list of all those little advantages you have while you’re a student that you might have forgotten.
-
It’s a good excuse to quit your current job
-
You can sneak in lessons on hobbies like golf, tennis, and art that would actually cost much more in the real world
-
You can get great discounts on everything from groceries to sports
-
You can finally go back to that all-pizza diet you’ve missed so much
-
You can fill up your bookshelves with your textbooks so you seem more intelligent when people visit
-
You can tell your children they have to do their homework since you are doing yours
-
You get to use the “everyone does weird things in college” excuse
-
Whenever anyone asks you to do something, you can always say you need to study
-
Because you secretly wanted to join an a cappella group
-
It will give you a good reason to wear a toga
It’s difficult to go back to college, forcing yourself to learn. However, the life of a student can be very fulfilling and expanding your skills and knowledge is a great idea. Remember, your wall gets jealous when you tell it about the doctor’s office, he wants a diploma too.
