What has happened to the Serbian women tennis players Ana Ivanovic and Jelena Jankovic?
In 2008 they looked like they where really going to be among the elite stars of the WTA, building on their successes in 2007, for years to come especially the telegenic Ana Ivanovic. She was a Australian Open runner up then she won the French Open while Jelena Jankovic was the runner up in the US Open.
Then comes 2009 and both women do not make the QF round of any of that years Grand Slams. So far in 2010 with the start of first Slam of the year they are also off to a bad start Jelena losses in the 3rd round while Ana losses in the 2nd round.
Out of the 2 who has the best shot of winning another Grandslam? Or at least work their way up in the rankings to get higher seeds and stay around in the slams deeper in the rounds instead of a cup of coffee.
Yes, they were indeed dominant forces back then, but I absolutely don’t know what happened to them now. Jelena Jankovic is quite inconsistent these days, but not as inconsistent as Ana. Ana is simply all over the place, she’s busy dating her new boyfriend, she’s busy doing photoshoots/modelling and she’s busy being a professional tennis player. I don’t know if she has it all balanced, but at the moment, her tennis is falling apart dramatically. Everything from the ball toss to the unforced errors. I don’t think that she’ll go further in the future, Plus, people nowadays think that a win over Ana is no big deal. Jelena on the other hand, I believe can go further with her tennis. If she works on getting every ball in, then there’s no surprise that she’ll be back in the top again.
