When should I remove the bumper off my baby’s crib?
I have heard these can be dangerous and I even found my baby with her head between the bumper and the bars of the crib one night. She was breathing and fine but it makes me wonder if I should take if off. I don’t really want to take it off because sometimes she moves around in her sleep and her head gets pressed up against it which tells me if the bumper wasn’t there, her head would be pressed up against the bars. Plus, I don’t know if she would get her foot caught in the bars if the bumper wasn’t there. Please help. My daughter is six months old and rolls around very well but doesn’t sit up on her own yet.
I know it seems cruel, but it’s time for the bumpers to go. If baby can get around at all, they become a hanging hazzard.
Yes, your child’s foot can get caught between the bars, that happened to my son more than once. There is not a lot you can do about that except to check on her every now and again while she sleeps.
