Tips when playing on a cruddy tennis court (smaller than regulation)?
I am trying out for a college tennis team and the courts that we are playing on are inadequate. They are at least 5-8 feet smaller than regulation courts and the nets fly everywhere! For the past three days, there has been immense amounts of wind and when that is put in combination with the fact that the court is smaller than regulation, it is very hard to make the type of shots I like because they always go out behind the baseline by 1-2 feet. I use a liquidmetal radical racquet and like to play with topspin (I like to slice as well) and usually hit a nice flat shot close to the baseline when a winner is needed. We are not going to different courts and I feel as though I may be cut from the team just because of this annoying problem…it’s so frustruating.! With this being said, does anybody have any strategies for playing on a smaller court
I know exactly what your talking about, I’ve played this whole summer at a park that I feel has bigger courts than the courts that are at my school. I’m not 100% sure about this, only because I haven’t measured the courts exactly, but what I do know is that I am having the same problem. I hit very flat and very hard, I love to hit from the baseline, but I’ve become so accustomed to the bigger (even though I think appropriately sized) courts, that when ever I play at my school I have the same problem that you have, each of my balls goes 1 to 2 feet out from the opposite baseline. I’m either going to have to adjust my playing style or give up playing at the park and concentrate only on playing at my school. I hope reading my situation helps you to figure out yours….
