Racquet Ball

Racquet Ball
RACQUET FACE ANGLE TO HIT A TOPSPIN GROUNDSTROKE – - – How do you meet the ball?

Do you meet the ball with your racquet face:

a. Flat (straight up and down)
b. Slightly closed (facing downwards)
c. Slightly open (facing upwards)

At contact during a topspin groundstroke I am much closer to flat than I am closed. My main focus is more about solid contact than worrying about my racket angle. The sound the ball makes coming off the strings will tell me immediately if the shot was properly executed. I meet the ball opposite my leading hip on the forehand and about 6 to 12 inches in front of my leading hip on the backhand side.
