Embroidered Polo shirts or Screen Printed Polo shirts- what’s the difference?

Embroidered polo shirts are considered to be a high quality product for any promotional occasion and bring a definite touch of class to any event. Any Embroidered garment will always have a far higher perceived value than a screen printed version yet in many cases the Embroidered Shirt can be produced at a lower price especially where you have a number of colours in your design. That said you cannot make a silk purse out of a sows ear so it is always best to choose a reasonable quality garment to start with.

Screen Printing origination is charged per colour so the more colours you have then the more origination costs you pay whereas embroidery charges are tied to the number of stitches in your design and on the latest embroidery machines this can give you as many as 12 colours. If the logo or design you wanted on your garment was for example six colours the origination charges for  Printed Polo shirts would be £180 yet to have the same design prepared for embroidery the cost could be as little as £45.

So before you make any decision on whether to print or embroider your garments you must speak to your supplier who should be happy to provide the most competitve alternative to you. If you do select embroidery you should discuss the best place for the design to be embroidered, ideally it should be away from any pockets or zips and certainly must be produced using threads that will not shrink when the garment is gets wet  either because of  the elements or when being cleaned.
